Best trunk bike racks for electra cruisers?

I am getting my GF an Electra cruiser and was wondering if trunk racks were durable enough to hold that kind of weight. I am currently thinking about the Bones 2 by Saris.
I drive a Mazda Protege with a spoiler.

  1. I have the Bones 2 and it is quite durable. I use it for 2 large hybrid bikes and it works fine, so I would think it would be OK. Best thing to do is contact Saris and ask them what the weight limit is.

  2. Is the frame a ‘womens’ or “step thru” ?

    if so, an expandable removable bar is made that makes it easy to carry those style frames on bike racks. I have two.

    costs about $20, available from your LBS or Performance bike.
